Gears of War 2 Event

Gamestop has announce that they’ll be having a deal going on with trades used towards Gears of War 2. You can get an additional 30% credit on the game that you trade in towards the pre-order. There’s also a tournament/event going on with prizes. There are over 30+ pages of participating stores and some of the prizes in include an Xbox 360 Points Card & Gears of War tee and 2nd - 4th getting a t-shirt. The event starts at 9:30pm Friday July 25th. More details after the jump.
Contestants must sign in for the tournament on the Tournament Sign Up Sheet. (The sign up sheet is located at the store. To find the location nearest you please review the store list. The tournament is capped at 32 contestants per location. If a store already has 32 contestants sign up, you may sign up as an alternate in the eventuality a contestant fails to show or a contestant does not meet the Tournament’s eligibility requirements. Or you can visit another location that is hosting a tournament.

What are the tournament game play rules?
• Contestants must use the controllers that are provided by the store.
• No memory cards or third party memory devices can be used by contestants.
• Tournament must be organized into a bracket-style single elimination format (the tournament is capped at 32 contestants per
location).
• Contestants will be paired off randomly for the opening match. If there are an odd number of contestants in the opening match,
the GameStop employee will randomly determine the contestant who will receive the opening match bye.
• The winner of each match will be determined by who “executed” the other contestant and will move on to the next match (part
of “Execution Mode” in Gears of War).
• Play will continue until the last two contestants remaining compete.
• The contestant who wins in the final match wins the tournament.
• This is a 1 vs 1 tournament. No teams.
• The game mode is the following:
1. From the Main Menu, select “Versus.”
2. From the Versus Multiplayer Menu, select “Local.”
a. Choose the following settings:
i. Game Type: Execution
ii. Selected Map: Gridlock
iii. Number of Rounds: 1
iv. Bleed-Out Time: 20 seconds
v. Round Duration: 3 minutes
vi. Friendly Fire: NA (setting does not matter)
b. Press the X button to “Swap Weapons”
i. Remove:
1. Boomshot, Torque Bow, Longshot Rifle, Frag Grenades, Hammer of Dawn
ii. Press A to Accept
c. Press A to Accept settings
3. Both contestants must choose either COG or Locust
4. Once selected both contestants must press A to ready up
5. Once both contestants are ready, press the START button to launch game
OTHER NOTES
6. The number of rounds for the final round will be adjusted to 3.
7. In the event of a tie (no kills) the tied contestants will have a rematch to determine the winner (the game settings will be
the same).
8. GameStop employees have the final ruling regarding any mediation of the tournament.
